Signature Event Experience
The Medicine is in the Story
The Medicine in the Story Signature Event Experience with Dr. Martha is a live keynote and experiential gathering that weaves storytelling, cultural history, and gentle medicine to help people and communities rediscover energetics-first Self-care. This re-introduction to Self-care is rooted in plant partnership, kitchens, the body, the five elements of Self, imagination, and trust in the still small voice.
Through story, reflection, and shared inquiry, participants are invited to slow down and notice the resources already within reach — their own bodies, their homes, their gardens, their imaginations, and their relationships with nature and others.
This work does not oppose biomedical care; rather, it restores discernment, agency, and balance so that people can engage all systems of care more wisely.

This is Remembrance Medicine!
People leave the webinar or event knowing how to care for themselves and those they love with what is already within reach.
This is not Alternative or Complementary - It is Remembrance Medicine!
Participants:
-
Recognize and remember the elements of Self within (Self with a capital S)
-
Notice balance and imbalance in themselves and name those patterns without panic
-
Listen to the body with an energetics-first approach (The Elements of Care® Model)
-
Understand self in relationship to food, plants, seasons, emotions, and community
-
Create simple daily remedies that lead to greater balance in body and peace of mind
-
Restore their understanding that healing is participatory not passive
The goals of this signature event are to:
-
Restore care before crisis.
-
Interrupt dependency early, before fear becomes habit.
-
Plant memories, not just deliver or prescribe information.
People will not:
-
Memorize nutrients
-
Fear symptom patterns
-
Outsourcing their health decisions and judgments
Dr. Martha guides people to:
-
reclaim agency without rejecting medicine
-
understand their bodies without fear
-
work with plants as partners, not products
-
restore care across generations, not just individuals
-
experience balance in body and peace of mind as a daily practice, not a distant goal
Watchful Waiting
Through the process, we invite people to simply turn their attention, not reject medicine, but to pause, a process called watchful waiting.
During the process of watchful waiting:
-
agency returns.
-
Panic softens.
-
The body becomes intelligible again.
-
Care becomes relational, not transactional.
-
There is a spiritual return to trust in a still small voice… to God as a presence within the act of care
We do not say "stop doing X." We say "come experience Y.”

Who This Work Is For

These gatherings also resonate deeply with:
-
Families and intergenerational communities
-
Caregivers and educators
-
Those navigating gaps in healthcare or feeling overwhelmed by over-medicalization
-
Communities seeking grounded, spiritually integrated approaches to wellbeing
Formats Available
Communities may invite me in several ways:
-
Keynote: The Medicine Is in the Story
-
Keynote + Half-Day Experiential Retreat
-
Extended retreats available by invitation
Most communities choose a keynote followed by a half-day experiential retreat, allowing participants to both receive the story and engage more deeply with embodied practice and shared reflection.
Invitation
Communities interested in hosting a live gathering are warmly invited to reach out to explore alignment and availability. I schedule a limited number of in-person engagements each year, allowing me to offer this work with presence, care, and depth.
Most communities invite me for a keynote and a half-day experiential retreat. For groups who want to go further, I also offer extended retreats by invitation.
